5 - Your arm is measured from shoulder to wrist, with the tape following the natural curve of your relaxed arm.

The ‘Evening Star’ is the dress you reach for when the evening calls for old-Hollywood contrast done with a knitwear maker’s hand, white twisting into black like light meeting shadow.
A knot of crisp white sits where the bodice meets the shoulder, the front straps crossing and twisting up over an off-the-shoulder neckline before settling into soft, natural folds. Wear it this way to draw the eye along your collarbone and shoulders, or rework the straps into a halter for a more vintage elegance. The twist isn’t only for show: it lifts and cradles the bust so the neckline sits full and sculpted, with edges carefully bound and matched stitch-for-stitch to the grain so nothing rubs against the skin.
Below, the white gives way to inky black, and the seam between them dips into a gentle inverted-V at the waist. That single line does the quiet work of lengthening you from the hip down, so the whole silhouette reads taller and more fluid.
The black skirt is where the hours went. Knitted on a German Stoll machine in a raised pointelle-and-rib texture, the surface catches light in long vertical lines that skim and slim as they fall. The fishtail hem is shaped with evenly paced increases and decreases, an exacting technique that took repeated reworking to land, so it sways with every step rather than weighing you down.
The yarn earns the drama too. We chose breathable viscose (80%) for its natural moisture-regulating quality, so it never clings the way synthetics can, blended with 20% nylon for lightness and resilience, plus two fine high-stretch threads knitted through for a gentle, body-hugging spring-back. At around 1.1kg and three and a half hours on the machine per piece, this is genuinely heavy-knit work, weight that skims the body and holds its shape as you move.
Timeless in crisp black-and-white, the ‘Evening Star’ is made to be worn again, not saved for a single night.
• Dry cleaning is the best way to extend the life of your item.
• Hand wash in cold water, using a gentle detergent. Gently and slowly swish the garment then rinse with cold water. Remove excess water by rolling the garment in a towel and gently pressing to absorb lingering moisture. Ensure the garment keeps its shape by laying flat or hanging to dry.
• Use a steamer to get out creases in your item or simply iron inside-out on low heat, putting a cloth between the fabric and the iron.
