The ‘Godiva’ runs on fashion’s oldest trick: black, cut well, worn like you mean it.
The boned bodice does the clever, quiet work here. Slim panels are shaped into a subtle inverted trapezoid, wider through the bust and nipping in toward the waist, engineering a defined bust-to-waist contrast so the eye reads your middle first. A gently raised waistline lifts everything beneath it, tipping your proportions into that coveted leg-lengthening balance. The streamlined neckline finishes it off, skimming the décolletage, smoothing the shoulder line and leaving just the collarbones on show, sensual without trying too hard.
Then there’s the detail we love most: sculpted pleats gathered at the centre front, falling into soft, fluid folds thanks to the fabric’s own weight. They pull the focus to the waist and keep that horizontal cinch feeling lithe and alive rather than static, layered and quietly clever.
‘Godiva’ is a study in two textures. The bodice is cut from a wonderfully slippery matte satin, densely woven so it drapes without creasing and stays breathable and substantial against the skin. From the waist down, a finely knitted jersey takes over, hanging with gorgeous fluidity and lending the whole silhouette its graceful, in-motion ease. A touch of elastane through the lower half keeps everything stretchy, supple and breathable, all in the most classic, slimming, endlessly elevated shade of black.
• Dry cleaning is the best way to extend the life of your item.
• Hand wash in cold water, using a gentle detergent. Gently and slowly swish the garment then rinse with cold water. Remove excess water by rolling the garment in a towel and gently pressing to absorb lingering moisture. Ensure the garment keeps its shape by laying flat or hanging to dry.
• Use a steamer to get out creases in your item or simply iron inside-out on low heat, putting a cloth between the fabric and the iron.
