There’s a particular magic to English rose gardens in full bloom, David Austin climbers tumbling over old stone walls, a watering can left by the gate, and the ‘Lucienne’ is the dress we’d wear to wander them all afternoon.
Cut entirely from 100% cotton (shell, contrast panels, and lining all the same pure composition), ‘Lucienne’ is built around a story of two florals in conversation. The ditsy rosebud print scattered across the bodice, sleeves, and skirt is printed onto fine high-count cotton poplin using a direct-spray technique that keeps the buds crisp and the buttermilk cream ground luminous. Against this, a fuller blooming rose bouquet print appears on the corseted waist-cincher and as a contrast border at the hem, the same garden, just zoomed in. Throughout, a breathable cotton voile lining sits cool and weightless against the skin.
Now to the part that earns ‘Lucienne’ her place in your wardrobe: the reversible corseted waist-cincher, cleverly designed to wear two ways. Wear the pointed bouquet-print side forward for full romantic drama, or reverse it for a quieter pinstriped face. Cut from positioned floral panels (a beautifully labour-intensive process), it laces up at the back so you can sculpt the fit precisely to your shape. Two dresses, one wardrobe favourite.
The square neckline is trimmed in a sliver of ivory lace edged in raspberry picot, with a tiny rose ribbon flower at the centre, the kind of detail that makes you smile every time you catch it in a mirror. Puff sleeves bloom into double ruffle cuffs sized just so, softening the upper arm without overwhelming, and we’ve tucked discreet grip tape inside the shoulders so you can move, dance, and reach for the picnic basket without a single adjustment.
The full pleated skirt sweeps into a romantic floor-grazing length, hemmed with a contrasting rose-garden border and raspberry picot trim that peeks out as you move. An invisible centre-back zip handles getting in and out; the lacing is purely there for shaping and beauty.

• Dry cleaning is the best way to extend the life of your item.
• Hand wash in cold water, using a gentle detergent. Gently and slowly swish the garment then rinse with cold water. Remove excess water by rolling the garment in a towel and gently pressing to absorb lingering moisture. Ensure the garment keeps its shape by laying flat or hanging to dry.
• Use a steamer to get out creases in your item or simply iron inside-out on low heat, putting a cloth between the fabric and the iron.
